Glif A tripod mount for smartphones.
The completely redesigned version of the Glif holds your smartphone securely in portrait or landscape with a quick-release lever and includes three tripod mounts for additional accessories.
"The new Glif was worth the wait; it’s a marvelously clever piece of engineering."
– TechCrunch
Quick Release Lever
It’s quick and secure.
The quick release lever, when opened, allows the jaws of the Glif to move freely, making it easy to quickly load or remove your device. Here is the clever bit: when you close the lever, it automatically tightens around your device, resulting in a super secure connection.
Portrait and Landscape
Shoot in either orientation.
The Glif has a side-mounted tripod mount, which allows devices to be mounted directly in portrait orientation.
Extensibility
Build a mobile photography rig.
We want the Glif to be a flexible tool that caters to your needs. As such, the Glif has a total of 3 tripod mounts, which allow you to add additional accessories, like a microphone or light.
Fits Your Device
It’s adjustable.
The jaws of the Glif span a wide range, and can hold devices as small as an iPhone mini, all the way up to the largest iPhone with a thick case on it. So rest assured, no matter what device you use or how you outfit it, the Glif will do the job.
About Us
Studio Neat was founded in 2010 by Tom Gerhardt and Dan Provost. We are two designers who enjoy making simple products that solve problems.
We like to think of ourselves, in the Kottke parlance, as a small batch business. Our focus is not on growth at all costs, but rather making truly great and useful products in a sustainable way. Walt Disney once said: “We don’t make movies to make money. We make money to make more movies.” That idea speaks to us.
The Glif, our first product back in 2010, represented a new way of approaching consumer products, and it wouldn't have been possible without a few thousand people who believed in us. Launched when few people had even heard of Kickstarter, the Glif was the first consumer tech product to reach such a high level of funding and acclaim on the crowdfunding site. Exceeding our initial goal by over 10×, Studio Neat, as a company, was born. You can read all about that history here: https://twitter.com/danprovost/status/1312402235083681793
Over the years, we have created all kinds of different products. You might even look at those products and deem it a bit capricious. The same company that makes an iPhone tripod mount also makes an app for managing your cocktail recipes? To us, it's all about solving interesting problems and delighting our customers. This is our guiding light.
While our story may seem unique, the world now more than ever has allowed for such a story to be possible. We love to share our experiences, either through talks, our podcast, or our mentorship program, to hopefully inspire others to forge a similar path. There isn't a better time than now.
We are in it for the long haul. We are not interested in venture funding or being acquired. We have been profitable since day one and we intend to keep that going. And we owe it all to our amazing customers and backers. Thanks for your continued support!
If you are interested in following along with us on our journey, there are two great ways to do that. The first is to check out our podcast, Thoroughly Considered. We chat with our friend Myke Hurley once a month about the trials and tribulations with running a small business, and also comment on the latest design trends. The second is to subscribe to the Studio Neat Gazette, our email newsletter in which we each pick something interesting to share, as well as give a brief update about Studio Neat. Short and sweet, delivered to your inbox weekly. We’d love to have you along for the ride!
