THE ENTREPRENEUR
The story of Atelier Rebul begins in 1895 with Jean Cesar Reboul, a young French pharmacist, who was enchanted by the unique mix of traditional mystique and modern dynamism of Istanbul. On his way to Trabzon, Istanbul became his unexpected destination and the birthplace of his dream.
In the vibrant streets of Beyoğlu, in the shadow of Rue de Pera, Jean found the ideal place to open one of the first pharmacies in Turkey: the Grande Pharmacie Parisienne. This pharmacy became not only a crossroads of cultures and ideas but also a testament to Jean's entrepreneurial spirit and visionary thinking.
This is how Jean Cesar Reboul laid the foundations in Istanbul for what would later become Atelier Rebul, creating a legacy of innovation and beauty that lives on to this day.
THE INTERN
Kemal M Derrişoğlu, a young student at the University of Istanbul, was fascinated by Jean Reboul's expertise as a pharmacist. Determined to learn from the best, he took on the challenge of learning French, a crucial step to be able to work at the Grande Pharmacie Parisienne. This ambition marked the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. Kemal, originally Jean's student, quickly evolved into a key figure in developing innovative products and methods, thus contributing to shaping the legacy of Atelier Rebul.
FROM INTERN TO PARTNER
After completing his studies at Istanbul University, Kemal Derrişoğlu faced an important decision. He turned down an attractive offer from the government to continue pursuing his passion in pharmacy alongside Jean. Their shared curiosity and love for the profession led to the development of groundbreaking products and techniques.
In 1936, this fruitful collaboration was sealed when Jean Kemal invited him to become a full partner, resulting in the renaming of the pharmacy to Kemal and Rebul Pharmacy. This step was a turning point and confirmed Kemal's crucial role in the pharmacy. In 1938, as a final tribute to his mentor and teacher, Kemal renamed the pharmacy once again, this time to Rebul Pharmacy, thereby anchoring the legacy of Jean Cesar Reboul and their joint efforts forever in history.
REBUL LAVENDER
In 1938, Jean Cesar Reboul created REBUL LAVANDA, an Eau de Cologne made from lavender from his own garden. This fragrance quickly became an icon in Istanbul, beloved for its refined aroma and as a symbol of status. Rebul Lavanda became an essential element in the identity of the distinguished man and a coveted gift for special occasions, thereby enhancing the reputation of the pharmacy and becoming a legacy cherished for generations.
THE REBUL PHARMACY
In 1939, Jean Cesar Reboul made the decision to return to France, entrusting his beloved pharmacy to Kemal. This pharmacy, which now stands as a historical monument in Beyoğlu, remains a paragon of innovation and quality. It is a living testament to Atelier Rebul's enduring commitment to health and beauty, and continues to be a source of inspiration and pride to this day.
GOLD MEDAL
The year 1981 marked an important moment in the history of Atelier Rebul, when Rebul Lavanda received a gold medal from the International Beauty Products Quality Control Center.
